A successful career is often synonymous with hard work and dedication, but the issue that we run into is that “hard work” and “dedication” get easily misconstrued and taken to the extreme.

It suddenly becomes common for burnout and stress to be acceptable as employees strive for what they believe is necessary to lead an accomplished work life.

Take a beat and start:

  1. Making time for yourself, whether it’s for a reflection or just a mental break.
  2. Adding more structure to your day to avoid unnecessary stress.
  3. Focusing on activities or hobbies that highlight other sides of your identity.

The more opportunities you give yourself to focus on a well-rounded you, the easier it will become to achieve what you’re working towards.

Every type of employee is susceptible to this mindset and the narrative won’t change until we learn that we must take care of ourselves while we work towards our goals.
